Elle DelSignore
breaking in my leather seats, side of the road in the dead of summer,
my world was smaller once, well-worn.
i like to use my things until they give out beneath me,
so can we give it a go? after months of imagining
our shoe soles have worn through in the same places,
how the side of your neck would taste, that i might talk with you
in my dreams, and you’d wake up a thousand miles away
with my words lingering in your ears.
you’ve always seen right through me, even in the dark.
you’re taking off your belt, my hands in your hair.
i’m begging like a stray dog:
please see me and open the car door.
please take me home.
please love me forever.
and please
make the decision for me,
of when it ends.
